How to judge a dental clinic abroad
Price is the easiest thing to compare and the worst thing to decide on. These are the questions worth asking any clinic — including this one — before you book:
- • Which brand, exactly? "Titanium implant" is not a brand. Ask for the manufacturer in writing — it determines whether any dentist in the world can service it later.
- • What is the plan if it fails? A warranty you can only claim by flying back is a weak warranty.
- • Is the quote complete? Ask whether the scan, the temporaries and the follow-up visits are included, or billed separately once you are there.
- • How many days, honestly? A plan that assumes zero complications is a sales pitch, not a schedule.
Why Medellín
Colombia trains a large number of dental specialists, and Medellín concentrates many of them: the city has a dense cluster of specialist practices, direct flights from several US hubs, and a mild climate that makes recovery days comfortable. That depends entirely on the clinic, not the country. What is worth checking anywhere: which implant or ceramic brand they use (and getting it in writing), whether the dentist is registered, and what happens if something fails once you are home. In our case we use Nobel Biocare and E.max, we send the plan in writing before you travel, and follow-up happens at our own Miami clinic.
Most veneer and smile design cases are completed in 5 to 7 days. Implants usually need time for the bone to integrate, so they may require a second trip months later or a temporary crown in the meantime. We tell you how many days you need before you buy a ticket.
This is the question dental tourism rarely answers. We have our own clinic in Miami, so follow-up is not a referral to a stranger. If you live outside Florida, we do video check-ups and coordinate whatever is needed.
The savings are significant but vary a lot by treatment and number of teeth, which is why we quote individually rather than publish a price list. Our cost guides compare the US, Colombia and other destinations with real figures. Send us a few photos on WhatsApp and we will send the full price in writing.
Yes, the whole team is bilingual at both clinics. Most of our international patients come from the US and Canada.
